Arterial hypertension is the most common chronic disease in Brazil and the world. Around 30% of Brazilians are hypertensive. It is known that the long-term consequences of the disease can trigger problems in various body systems, such as: stroke, heart attack, heart failure, angina, kidney failure, visual changes, etc. However, the advent of increasingly accessible drugs to treat the disease has made control possible. From this perspective, it is extremely important that the subject is always the main agenda of various government health bodies, as care to prevent and diagnose systemic arterial hypertension early can reduce public health spending by anticipating possible problems to the patient's health. From this perspective, this narrative literature review brought together articles from the main databases aiming to identify the main non-pharmacological measures for the treatment of systemic arterial hypertension, in addition to determining which groups are eligible for this therapeutic approach.
