Abstract

Introduction: The association between coffee consumption and increased blood pressure values has been controversial over the years. The aim of this study is to investigate whether coffee consumption is related to changes in blood pressure, namely whether it leads to hypertension. Methodology: Literature review, which includes scientific articles published between January 2013 and June 2023. Six articles were selected, according to the PRISMA guidelines. Results: Five of the six articles included show that coffee consumption does not increase blood pressure values of the participants, with only one article having results in the opposite direction. Conclusion: Coffee consumption does not interfere with blood pressure values, so daily coffee consumption is compatible with a healthy lifestyle. However, it is not an absolute certainty, because despite minimum, there are still studies that indicate that coffee is related to an increase in blood pressure.
