With the advancement of technology, patient transport now relies on teams trained in the use of various techniques developed specifically for adapted vehicles, such as planes and helicopters. Aeromedical transport comprises the movement of patients using rotary-wing or fixed-wing aircraft, in which the presence of an aerospace nurse is essential. In this context, evaluate nursing duties in aeromedical transport. This is a narrative review of the literature, of a descriptive and qualitative nature. Taking into account the advantages of air medical transport in assisting critically ill patients, especially in difficult-to-reach areas, it is essential to highlight the relevance of this method of travel in all health services in this sphere. A notable challenge lies in the significant operation and maintenance costs. However, it is clear that this rescue modality plays an essential role in reducing the mortality rate in extremely serious cases. The presence of nurses in the aerospace context in Brazil is in the early stages of development, as it is a relatively recent field with ample opportunities for growth and expansion.
