This research is an analysis of the fundamental rights and guarantees guaranteed to those re-educated during criminal execution, provided for in the Federal Constitution of 1988 and other infra-constitutional laws, with emphasis on Law No. 7,210/1984, the Criminal Execution Law. The study in question aimed to investigate the level of applicability of these standards at the Gonçalo de Castro Lima “Vereda Grande” Penitentiary, located in the municipality of Floriano (PI), as well as the challenges faced for their effectiveness. To achieve its purposes, it used bibliographic research methodology, through doctrines, scientific articles and legislation; descriptive and field, through official statistical data made available by Mr. Edilson Porto Mousinho de Morais, general director of the prison unit in question, in an interview. In short, it was concluded that although the “Vereda Grande” penitentiary has undergone several significant structural, logistical and administrative changes over the last few years, assistance, rights and guarantees are partially ensured, still lacking important implementations. , especially with regard to assistance to egress, which, given the lack of provision in the unit, reflects on the high rate of recidivism in the region.
