This research aims to provide information on the services provided by the police to protect women who suffer domestic violence and the need to reflect on the historical and cultural context in order to understand the reasons for the high incidence of this violence within Brazilian society, and that it is necessary to validate the actions taken in the face of domestic violence and its care in the city of Floriano/PI. The research highlights the importance of public policies and specific structures to deal with this phenomenon, considering its complexities and psychosocial impacts. Through a literature review, interviews and data analysis, the study highlights the lack of resources and awareness in the region, emphasizing the urgency of investing in professional training, shelters and improving the support network. By focusing on the needs of victims, the work proposes practical recommendations to improve the effectiveness of existing services and promote a more holistic approach to tackling this problem, with the aim of contributing to building a fairer and safer society.
