Femur fractures can be considered a public health problem with social, clinical and economic impacts due to their high medical costs and high morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to analyze the epidemiological profile of adult patients hospitalized for femoral fractures in southern Brazil between 2019 and 2022. To this end, data relating to gender and age group were collected from the DATASUS platform and analyzed using the GraphPad Prism statistical program, with p significant when <0.05. The results show that men are more susceptible to femur fractures than women, especially young adults. This condition leads to a greater number of hospitalizations, deaths and costs for the single health system. However, as women get older, they are more likely to suffer from femur fractures and have a higher mortality rate than men. This highlights the importance of studies on this subject, so that these patients can be properly managed, with the aim of reducing the incidence of these injuries, especially in preventable situations such as osteoporosis, in order to improve the quality of life and reduce the mortality of patients affected by this condition.
