Dental trauma in childhood has had an impact on children's lives. The objective of this study is to analyze the prevalence of dental trauma in childhood, based on the available literature. Dental trauma occurs very often, with children being the most affected group, because they are relatively associated with behavioral traits such as curiosity and restlessness, resulting in an increase in the incidence of injuries in childhood. The research was elaborated from a literature review on the topic of dental trauma in childhood, for data collection were using several articles from the following databases: Scientific Electronic Libary Online (SCIELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), National Libary of Medicine (PUBMED/ Medline) and on the Google Scholar search site.
