PHARMACEUTICAL ATTENTION ON THE RISKS OF USE OF ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES

Abstract

This research work is based on the role of the pharmaceutical professional in accordance with their prerogatives in basic health care in relation to the use of contraceptives by women, thus asking the question: How can pharmacists help the consumer of contraceptives to guarantee the quality of life and maintenance of female health? The main objective is to address the importance of pharmaceutical care in resolving issues and providing adequate instruction on oral contraceptives. With specific objectives: Contextualize pills and their pharmacology; Understand the side effects and risks of using the medication incorrectly; Analyze pharmaceutical assistance in the prescription and instruction of contraceptives. With the exploratory research methodology carried out via bibliographic review, considering scientific files published on the topic, available on websites and scientific journals such as: Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Conselho Federal de Farmácia (CFF), website of the Ministry of Health and ANVISA using keywords in search engines and targeting specific searches on the topic. As a result of research, among the different contraceptive methods available, the pill or oral contraceptive continues to be the one mentioned by the majority of the target audience, as it is a practical and easily accessible method. In this context, the role of the pharmacist in assisting patients is fundamental in guiding them on the correct and safe use of medication, as well as clarifying possible complications that may occur.
