This article seeks to analyze the current model of resocialization in the prison environment, highlighting it as a crucial means of reintegrating individuals into society. The focus is on the serious problem of disregard for the physical and moral integrity of prisoners, associated with the violation of fundamental rights and the lack of qualifications of prisoners. These challenges result in a significant deficit of prison places, aggravated by the insertion of each prisoner in an already occupied space, imposing new obstacles to the effectiveness of Brazilian prison policy. The urgency of restructuring the prison system is highlighted, aligning it with legal principles, in order to address the discrepancy between what is established in the legal system and the reality faced. This reflection highlights the imperative need for reforms to promote effective resocialization and deal with the complexities inherent to the Brazilian prison system.
