Cardiology is an area of medicine responsible for studying, caring for and treating the cardiovascular system, which are the blood vessels and the heart. The cardiologist should know about the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, the main conditions, for example, total cardiovascular disease, the essential non-drug, drug and surgical treatments and about the risk classification of cardiovascular diseases. In view of this, this descriptive and observational research with a cross-sectional design collected data, through the application of the Short Questionnaire to Assess Knowledge of Patients with Cardiovascular Diseases (CADE-Q SV), in the Cardiology outpatient clinic of the Specialized Care Center ( CAE), in Cascavel, in the state of Paraná, to compare cardiac patients who know more with patients who know less about cardiovascular diseases and observing the variables of age, gender, continuous use medications, time since diagnosis, associated comorbidities, surgical procedures performed, type of cardiac rehabilitation, monthly family income and level of education to identify the impact on the prognosis of patients with heart disease.
