COMPLICATIONS AND NURSING CARE IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING BARIATRIC SURGERY – INTEGRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW

Obesity has become increasingly common in the population, becoming a public health problem. Therefore, check whether bariatric surgery is an alternative that lately it has been widely used to intervene in this problem, since the is significantly effective in weight loss and, consequently, in controlling comorbidities. Therefore, this study aimed to identify complications and nursing care related to bariatric surgeries. This was a review integrative literature through the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Google databases Academic, carried out in May 2023. The results found in this study We highlight the following thematic areas: “Nursing care for patients undergoing bariatric surgery” (8); “Complications related to bariatric surgery” (5) and approach related to both themes (2). It is concluded, therefore, that in view of the complexity that involves the obese patient and evidence of complications resulting from bariatric surgeries, the role of the interdisciplinary team is justified, in which the nurse trained and with adequate conditions and work, can contribute to providing a increased the risk of complications.
