COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF HOSPITALIZATIONS OF PATIENTS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE BETWEEN THE MACRO-REGIONS OF THE STATE OF PARANÁ

Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze data from the DATASUS Platform, to determine the epidemiological profile of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, seeking information to quantitatively compare the number of hospitalizations between the different macro-regions of the state of Paraná, covering the perspective at the national level. As a result of the analysis of the research, it was found that there were more female patients admitted to public and private hospitals between 2020 and 2022, with a prevalence in the age group of 80 years or more, a parameter that has increased over the years. Specifically in Paraná, there was a drop in the ranking of hospitalizations between the years studied, compared to the national level, but which showed the same clinical case pattern, that is, a higher prevalence was observed in the number of hospitalizations in women, aged 80 or over, covering this same pattern for the Macroregions of Paraná. By way of comparison, it was possible to study articles referring to this epidemiological profile of inpatients in the city of Sergipe-PB, which was similar to that found in Paraná. In addition, this article sought to present the costs related to hospitalizations in Brazil, with the aim of knowing and financially planning for the coming years the necessary investments, in structure, materials, and organizing a multidisciplinary team (doctors, nurses, nursing technicians, physiotherapists and speech therapists) to guarantee qualified and trained health care, providing care and a quality of life for these patients.
