Objective: This study aims to analyze the role of intensive care nurses in caring for kidney patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting recommended practices and contributions to the quality of care. Methods: A systematic search was carried out in scientific databases such as the Nursing Database (BDENF- Enfermagem), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Google Academico, U.D. National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) resulting in 39 relevant articles. The selected studies addressed the intensive care nurse's experience in caring for kidney patients with COVID-19, their skills, protocols and care strategies. Results: Intensive care nurses play a multiple and crucial role. Through managing complex care, monitoring vital signs, they administered renal therapies, assisted with intubation and provided emotional support to patients and families. Additionally, your ability to communicate effectively and work as a team enhances cooperative care. Conclusion: The literature review highlights the importance of intensive care nurses in caring for renal patients with COVID-19. Your technical competence, communication skills and role in the multidisciplinary team are significantly important to the recovery and well-being of these patients. Continuous education and updating protocols are essential to ensure high-quality care. Recognizing the relevance of intensive care nurses is fundamental to strengthening the global response to the pandemic and improving outcomes for kidney patients affected by COVID-19.
