NURSE ASSISTANCE IN BREASTFEEDING IN THE POSTPARTUM

Objective: This research seeks to show how nurses' assistance with breastfeeding in the postpartum period consists of exposing the importance of breastfeeding for newborns and women in labor, in addition to the responsibility that nurses are placed in regarding prenatal care. Materials and Methods: Data were collected from February to November 2023, based on materials already prepared, collected through the following databases: U.S. National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS ), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO). Results: The data presented demonstrate how important breastfeeding is for the postpartum woman and her baby, as well as the importance of nurses' assistance to pregnant and parturient women, bringing information that will be crucial in their daily lives with their baby, strengthening the mother's bond -child from the first hours of life, educating them with correct actions and acts regarding breastfeeding, reducing the negative impacts caused by the lack or deficiency of this act.
