Acute myocardial infarction is the main cause of death in Brazil. Recent studies indicate an increase in the number of cases of cardiovascular diseases after the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in young adults. Therefore, the present study aims to evaluate and compare the incidence of acute myocardial infarction in patients between 15 and 34 years old, in the pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic periods, in the state of Paraná, Brazil. Data were collected from a Brazilian public health database, expressed as mean ± standard deviation and evaluated using Student's t-test, one-way and two-way ANOVA. The significance level adopted was p<0.05. The results indicate a significant increase in the incidence of myocardial infarction in the post-pandemic period, especially in the age group of 30 to 34 years. This finding is particularly relevant given that heart disease generally affects the elderly population more, and the increase in cases in younger people suggests a relationship between the pandemic and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
