Human beings spend a large part of their time in movement, which can generate excessive tension in one of the body`s fundamental balancing limbs, the foot. It is a very important component, as it performs several essential functions, from supporting gait and balance, to maintaining adequate body posture. Over time, it can trigger plantar fasciitis (PF), which is a degenerative syndrome caused by frequent microtraumas at the origin of the plantar fascia, causing pain or sensitivity in the heel in the sole region of the foot. Myofascial release (MLF) is a widely used method in this pathology, as it benefits the unlocking and rebalancing of muscles and connective tissue. Goal: Study the benefit of LMF in PF intervention. Methods: Bibliographic research was carried out over the last thirteen years in three different databases. Results: LMF is an appropriate method to restore movement of the ligamentous system and treat PF. Conclusion: PF is classified as a health and social complication, due to the physical disorders it causes. The effectiveness of LMF as a physiotherapeutic intervention provides a return to normal functions and improves quality of life.
