This article deals with Female Emancipation in Crime: a sociological analysis in the Santa Catarina prison system of the increased role of women in crime. Through official data from the National Penitentiary Department - DEPEN, the increase of women in crime is notorious in view of the shooting of the number of prisoners and the change in the profile of these criminals: some from the role of adjunct to the protagonist of the crime, including in the prison system, a place where they joined criminal factions and played leadership roles. In this way, it is intended to demystify this whole series, to review the literature on crime, on penalties, including in the female world, as well as to do qualitative research with semi-structured interviews with the inmates of the Female Prison in Florianópolis. Therefore, seeking to enter a specific field of studies that will analyze the sociological aspect in the Santa Catarina prison system of the increase in the role of women in crime, emphasizing the importance of analyzing female prison institutions and the experience of women in crime.
