This work constitutes a literature review on the influence of antioxidants on skin aging. The objective of the present study was to address aging as a complex and multifactorial process influenced by genetics, environmental and behavioral factors, which occur progressively in the body throughout life. Chemical and enzymatic factors involving the formation of free radicals (RL) accelerate this aging phenomenon. Antioxidants are important as they can slow down this process, causing a reduction in the involvement of free radicals in aging. Daily consumption of foods with antioxidant action, such as fruits, vegetables and cereals, can help prevent cardiovascular diseases, degenerative diseases, inflammatory processes and mutations.
