PHARMACEUTICAL ATTENTION IN THE RATIONAL USE OF NASAL DESCONGESTIONANTE IN THE COMMUNITY PHARMACY

Nasal decongestants are drugs that act as sympathomimetic agents. they induce local vasoconstriction, acting to reduce congestion and edema of the nasal mucosa. they are classified into two groups, namely: catecholamine derivatives and imidazoline derivatives. the use of this type of pharmacological class in high doses and for a prolonged period of time may result in adverse and/or toxic effects for the patient. this research article aims to carry out an integrative review of the literature on pharmaceutical care in the rational use of nasal decongestants in community pharmacy. 13 bibliographic references were catalogued, which met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. the presence of the pharmacist, through the practice of pharmaceutical care, helps to guide the rational use of this type of drug, to avoid the practice of self-medication, which will cause the emergence of problems related to the use of medications (prm). thus, the need to carry out more specific studies, such as the implementation of pharmacotherapeutic protocols, which aim to monitor the medicinal use of nasal decongestants, in patients who use them, in the various pathologies that affect the upper respiratory tract and who seek help in community pharmacy.
