Stem cells have emerged as a promising area of research in the field of medicine and public health. These cells have the unique ability to transform into different types of cells in the human body, which makes them essential for the development of innovative treatments and advances in public health. This research will discuss the importance of stem cells for public health, addressing their benefits and potential applications. The aim of this capstone work is to highlight how stem cells play a vital role in promoting public health, contributing to the treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions and offering hope for the future of regenerative medicine. The understanding and use of stem cells has the potential to revolutionize medicine, providing effective therapies for previously intractable diseases such as degenerative diseases, spinal cord injuries and heart disease. Additionally, stem cell research can lead to significant advances in the field of organ transplants and understanding genetic conditions. Therefore, it is crucial to highlight the importance of stem cells for public health, as their use can improve the quality of life of many patients and reduce the economic burden of chronic diseases. A comprehensive bibliographic review was carried out, covering scientific articles, books and reliable sources related to the topic. The research was based on academic and scientific databases, such as Web Of Science, SciELO, Google Acadêmico and databases from research institutions. The literature selection considered recent and relevant studies that highlighted the applications of stem cells in public health. The continued research and application of stem cells has the potential to significantly improve patients' quality of life and reduce the costs associated with chronic diseases. Therefore, it is essential that the scientific community and society in general recognize the importance of stem cells and support the advancement of this area of research for the benefit of public health.
