Debates on human rights and the social values of work have significantly influenced legislation that regulates labor relations, bringing to light issues related to work under special conditions, specifically, illicit and prohibited work. This article addresses the main characteristics and consequences of these forms of work, analyzing their legal and social implications. Initially, the need to understand and regulate these types of work stands out, through specific laws and regulations, to guarantee the protection of the workers involved. Subsequently, the fundamental aspects of illicit work are explored, covering its definition, causes, forms of identification and its implications for society and the job market. Likewise, prohibited work is examined, highlighting its characteristics, reasons why it is prohibited and the risks involved for workers. Furthermore, the challenges faced in identifying and combating these practices are discussed, as well as the importance of public policies and inspection strategies. The awareness and engagement of society, employers and regulatory bodies are essential to prevent and eradicate work in special conditions. Analysis of these issues contributes to the development of strategies and measures that aim to guarantee the dignity and rights of workers, in addition to promoting a safe and fair work environment. Thus, this work aims to analyze and compare the conditions of illicit work and prohibited work, identifying their characteristics and consequences for workers and society, using a literature review as a research methodology.
