Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy (CBT) stands out as one of the most widely used therapeutic approaches today. This therapy is based on the understanding that our thoughts and perceptions shape our behaviors and our position in the world. The development of these dysfunctional beliefs marks the beginning of an illness process, as the reality we construct is often influenced by content that is not necessarily functional or beneficial for our mental health. As a therapeutic approach, it embraces the individuality of each subject, recognizing the need to delve deeply into each person's reality. Cognitive distortions, often called errors, can include personalization, mental filtering, overgeneralization, among others. Addressing these dysfunctional cognitive contents requires effective therapeutic management. The therapist plays a fundamental role in this process, as they have a significant influence on the patient. Acceptance is an essential strategy in the therapeutic process, as the therapist helps the patient to fully accept themselves, considering both the positive and negative aspects. The objective is to build a sense of self-worth that transcends cognitive distortions and fosters the patient's self-acceptance and empowerment.
