THE IMPORTANCE OF COMPLEMENTARY EXAMS IN THE EVOLUTION OF CHAGAS DISEASE: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Objective: to identify in the scientific literature the importance of complementary tests for the diagnosis, screening and treatment of infections caused by Chagas disease. Method: integrative review, whose article eligibility criteria were: corresponding to the descriptors: “Chagas disease” “Complementary exams” and “Electrocardiographic findings”, being a research article; be in Portuguese and English; be available electronically in the VHL (Virtual Health Library) databases and the Scientific Electronic Library onLine (SciELO) data sources and year of publication referring to the period from 2013 to 2023. Results: 08 significant publications were found. The analysis occurred through analytical and interpretative readings. The importance of complementary exams for clinical interventions, innovations and treatments, in order to minimize the negative impacts arising from Chagas Disease, which affect the quality of life in human beings. Final considerations: Electrocardiogram exams stood out as positive indications for patients affected by CD.
