PHARMACEUTICAL ATTENTION TO THE USE OF HYPOGLYCEMIC AGENTS IN THE WEIGHT LOSS PROCESS

Obesity is a pathology that is on the rise in Brazil and around the world, causing concern in the current scenario. It can be caused by several factors and can bring with it other health problems, which in most cases reduce the quality of life of patients. The objective of this literature review is to evaluate the conditions of people with obesity, aiming to understand what influences them to use off-label hypoglycemic medications for weight loss and what is the importance of the pharmacist in this issue. The review carried out was qualitative in nature. Several articles on the topic were analyzed, selecting those that best suited the resolution of the established problem. Finally, it is concluded that all health professionals must come together to provide patients with adequate treatment, where they can feel welcomed and see significant results in a healthy way. Pharmacists are qualified to assist in treatment, not only with medication, but also in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, to draw up the best therapeutic plan for everyone.
