Reading development should be promoted from an early age. Family participation in this process is extremely important for the child to develop the habit of reading. If this first contact with the world of reading does not occur within the family, it is up to the school to begin this work. School is a space for formal education that can encourage good interpretation, understanding and commitment to the world of reading. The importance and necessity of reading are emphasized by many educators and the focus of research by researchers. In this sense, this educational project aims to identify the importance of reading in early childhood. A brief historical understanding of reading and how reading can affect a child's life is presented, with the teacher as a facilitator of the process.
