The search for aesthetic procedures has grown significantly, driven by the incessant search for the perfect and rejuvenated appearance. This article is a review of the literature and its general objective is to discuss the role of the Biomedical Aesthetician in carrying out aesthetic procedures; which, although they bring legitimate benefits for self-esteem and confidence, can cause damage to the patient's health; their role in optimizing results and avoiding undesirable risks, discussing the dangers that can affect health. Research related to the subject was analyzed in order to discuss the factors that lead to a high demand for appearance modification. The results show that although beauty standards have evolved throughout history, society still values outward appearance as an important instrument of social validation and the influence of technology, sociais networks and media plays a crucial role in generating an unrealistic aesthetic standard, causing dissatisfaction and low self-esteem in people and affecting their physical and mental health. The research highlights the need for effective communication to assess the existence of possible risks, which can have significant repercussions on physical and mental health. Therefore, it is important to adopt procedures aimed at minimizing such repercussions, such as requesting laboratory tests, applying an effective anamnesis, the correct use of materials and quantities of products, so that in no way do such procedures compromise the patient's health and physical well-being. It is necessary to balance the pursuit of beauty with the health and well-being of patients, avoiding unnecessary risks, and to emphasize the importance of raising public awareness about the dangers of aesthetic procedures and always prioritizing the safety and well-being of patients in any aesthetic intervention.
