The World Health Organization limits adolescence to the second decade of life (from 10 to 19 years), a period that encompasses major psychic, social and physical changes1. Teenage pregnancy has been a public health issue, as more and more women get pregnant earlier, mostly in adolescence, which can bring serious risks to the mother and fetus, in addition to affecting their studies, changing their perspectives. for the future and bring with it high rates of mortality, morbidity and high costs. The use of long-term contraceptive methods helps to prevent unwanted pregnancies, but they need to be used correctly and widely known. The LARCs - acronym in English for Long-Acting Reversible Contraception -, were developed to help women in planning their pregnancy, and bring facilities in this regard - such as the fact that continuous daily use is not necessary, as in the case of birth control pills. These include intrauterine devices and subdermal implants. Due to the maternal-fetal risks that include pregnancy in adolescence, it is important to carry out an analysis of prevention methods, so that the mechanism of use of LARCs in adolescents can be better understood and that prophylactic and therapeutic measures can be carried out, in an attempt to to reduce maternal-fetal morbidity and mortality in young people. The present study will aim to expose the existing long-term contraceptive methods available on the market for adolescents, in order to increase knowledge about LARCs and reduce the risks and rates of unplanned pregnancy in this group of women. A qualitative, descriptive, theoretical-reflective study will be carried out based on the narrative review approach with national and international scientific articles that address the repercussions on the health of adolescent women as a result of early pregnancy and how to prevent it through the use of LARCs.
