Abstract

In this study, we performed a comprehensive literature review of technological innovations that are reshaping the surgical field and promoting substantial improvements in the precision and effectiveness of surgical procedures. Modern surgery is undergoing a revolution driven by the introduction of advanced technologies such as robotic surgery, virtual and augmented reality, and surgical navigation. Robotic surgery has emerged as a milestone in surgical precision, offering surgeons an unprecedented degree of dexterity and control. Additionally, the integration of virtual and augmented reality into the surgical environment is enhancing visualization and informed decision-making during procedures. Surgical navigation, supported by advanced diagnostic imaging, is enabling surgeons to follow precise trajectories and avoid intraoperative complications, ensuring safer procedures. While these innovations offer notable advantages, they also present challenges, such as high costs and the need for specialized training. Therefore, it is essential to carefully evaluate the cost-benefit ratio and appropriate selection of technologies. In summary, surgical innovations are promoting more precise, safe, and effective surgical practice, benefiting both surgeons and patients. The future of surgery is undoubtedly marked by the continuous integration of advanced technologies, which promise improved surgical results and a greater quality of life for those seeking medical care.
