This scientific article aims to study the police system in different aspects, from the perspective of the various police institutions existing in Brazil, highlighting the peculiarities, provisions in the constitutional text and attributions of each one, and of society itself, which is the one that suffers the effects of maintaining the pubic order and/or lack thereof. Throughout the research, multiple incidents will be analyzed involving the conduct of security agents in the midst of disorderly situations, to verify their approach and relationships with the community. Crucial points that make it difficult to fulfill the constitutional duty of preserving the safety of people and property will also be discussed, such as the limitations of police action resulting from the law itself, lack of efficiency and rigor in the training of agents and the lack of investment and maintaining safe, up-to-date and reliable equipment that can take action against organized crime.
