Glycolic acid is obtained from sugar cane, and is one of the most used alpha-hydroxy acids in the aesthetic and dermatological area. It has clinical applications in the treatment of wrinkles and acts as chemical exfoliant (peeling) due to its small molecule that facilitates penetration into the skin. Considering the great use and accelerated growth of the national market of dermocosmetics, the article aims to understand out the quality control of facial serums containing glycolic acid in their formulation through analytical methods, in order to prove their effectiveness and ensure greater safety to consumers.
