The issue of incarceration and the difficulty of resocialization is a complex and multifaceted subject that involves legal, social, economic and psychological issues. This is because the Brazilian prison system faces a series of challenges that significantly impact the ability of prisoners to re-socialize, including overcrowding, precarious living conditions, exposure to violence, lack of resources and infrastructure, in addition to social factors such as lack of access to education and strategies that make these detainees able to live in society and escape the criminality they once practiced. Another reality of the Brazilian prison system is the population marginality, where the incidence of prisons of social minorities predominates due to the absence of public policies that can extract citizens from the reality of violence through education, instruction, training and awareness of society's rules. For this, the research was based on an extensive bibliographic review that included important scientific articles, government reports, books and academic documents dating from 2004 to 2023. Studies were considered that addressed resocialization in the prison system, the challenges faced in this process and possible solutions.
