Abstract

Introduction: The food sector is a major generator of jobs in Brazil, however, the manpower turnover in this area is very significant. Methods: In this study an integrative literature review was carried out, aiming at understanding the factors and impacts that interfere with employee motivation in food services. 35 articles were found and 5 were selected for this review. Results: The selected texts were submitted to the thematic analysis, and two categories that describe the motivating factors in the work environment emerged: 1) Manager performance as a motivating factor and 2) Health and education employees as a motivating factor. Conclusion: The lack of investment in the food sector interferes negatively on health of employees and also affects the low-skilled professionals in this area.
