Introduction: Primary malignant neoplasms of the brain arise from anomalies in the development of cells in the brain, in contrast to metastatic neoplasms of the central nervous system, where neoplastic cells from other regions spread. Symptoms vary with the affected location, with headache being common, often accompanied by signs of increased intracranial pressure, focal or generalized motor impairment, and even cognitive changes, making early diagnosis challenging due to subtle manifestations. Objective: This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of hospitalizations and deaths related to malignant neoplasms of the brain in the State of Paraná from 2016 to 2022, based on data provided by DATASUS. In this study, we will explore the temporal, demographic, and geographical trends of hospitalizations and deaths due to malignant brain neoplasms in Paraná, aiming to contribute to the improvement of healthcare and the planning of public policies. Methods: This study was conducted by analyzing data from DATASUS, without age, race, or gender restrictions, of patients hospitalized with a diagnosis of malignant brain neoplasm (ICD-10 morbidity list: C71) and subsequently deaths resulting from the same disease, both in the State of Paraná, over a period of 7 years (2016 to 2022).Analysis and Discussion of Results: The analyzed data reveal an interesting trend in hospitalizations and deaths due to malignant brain neoplasms over the years from 2016 to 2022. Hospitalizations showed a gradual increase until 2019 when they peaked, but from 2020, a steady decrease was observed. Regarding deaths, there was an initial increase between 2016 and 2017, followed by a gradual decrease from 2018.Conclusion: This study provides a comprehensive overview of hospitalization, mortality, and mortality rates related to malignant brain neoplasms in Paraná. The findings highlight the importance of continuously monitoring these trends and investigating the possible causes behind the variations to improve prevention, treatment, and patient monitoring for those affected by this condition.
