Abstract

The article discusses the limits of freedom of expression on social networks, addressing the importance of this fundamental right in the digital age, but also emphasizing the need to establish responsibilities and combat hate speech that can proliferate in these virtual spaces. Freedom of expression must be protected, but with measures that curb abuse and protect human dignity, promoting a more inclusive and safe online environment. Through a bibliographical research, the investigation addresses the relevance of this fundamental right in the digital age and explores the challenges associated with the regulation of online discourse. The methodology used consisted of a literature review, aiming to understand the academic and normative discussions on the subject. The research highlights the need to strike a balance between protecting freedom of expression and responsibility in combating hate speech, with a view to promoting a fairer, safer and more inclusive virtual environment.
