Introduction: Globally, it is estimated that over 1.7 billion people are infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In 2021, Brazil reported just over 68,000 cases, with 2.7% of them registered in the state of Paraná. Objective: To clinically and epidemiologically compare tuberculosis cases in the city of Cascavel with the state of Paraná, from 2012 to 2022. Methodology: This is a descriptive, quantitative, and retrospective study conducted in the city of Cascavel and the state of Paraná, based on data available in the Notifiable Diseases Information System. Results and discussion: The results revealed a predominance of male patients aged 20 to 59, of Caucasian ethnicity, and affected by the pulmonary form of tuberculosis. Additionally, we identified that approximately 11% of patients were co-infected with HIV. It is important to note that alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug consumption were lower in Cascavel compared to Paraná. Regarding outcomes, we did not observe statistically significant differences between the two populations. Conclusion: The data highlight the importance of continuous surveillance of tuberculosis and HIV, as well as the need for appropriate preventive and treatment approaches at both the municipal and state levels, contributing to the improvement of public health policies.
