Researchers/students need good teaching strategies to organize the stages of research, whether in the school or academic context. The choice of the topic, the development of the problem and the ways of searching for the theoretical basis, among other methodological steps inherent to scientific research, are actions that require dexterity, discipline and time. In this sense, tools that collaborate with this work, in a way that facilitates and improves the effectiveness of research procedures, are quite significant. This article communicates and presents a tool called “Modus 1 Mr. Holms” (developed by the authors), aiming to facilitate the work process of a researcher who uses the scientific method. “Modus 1 Mr. Holmes” is presented in the format of a simple and easily accessible tool, capable of assisting the student/researcher in the search and selection of books, articles, documents, websites and other instruments in the theoretical basis search phase . In this way, the aforementioned tool consists of a foreground in a tool for searching, selecting, collecting and organizing information contained in reference incubator banks. Research concepts, problem/theme, hypothesis, qualitative research, quantitative research and theoretical framework were explained in Ezequiel Ander-Egg (1977); Asti Vera (1979); Rodrigues (2007); Lakatos and Marconi (2000) and Gil (2002), among others.
