Protective measures are constitutional ways of establishing greater protection for victims of assault, as well as offering greater security to these women. Although Lei Maria da Penha has instituted protective measures as a form of intervention to stop attackers, there are still constant debates regarding their effectiveness. Thus, the general objective of the study was to identify limitations and possibilities of military police work in relation to protective measures in relation to violence against women. Based on documentary and bibliographic research, with a qualitative approach and descriptive emphasis, the results indicate that the selected authors point to different factors regarding Lei Maria da Penha. These external considerations point to the need to have better police awareness, training, capacity, as well as situational understanding and empathy for women. In relation to the documents, there is a glimpse of an important attempt to undermine important programs, essential measures and other verified projects in relation to protective measures. The research corroborates the idea that the attention given to the better training of military police, providing greater benefits to the attention of women in conditions of vulnerability.
