Considering the complexity inherent in the definition of health, there is a need to apply a range of knowledge that goes beyond the dimensions of medicine, aiming at the organization of health systems, as well as the management of determining and conditioning factors of situations of health in a given context and territory. In this sense, care for trauma due to external causes in Uberlândia-MG, considering the implications associated with this context, requires special attention, being managed by the Integrated Trauma and Emergency Care Service, which is part of the configuration of health care in the municipality. However, despite the existence of a solid care network, the impacts on morbidity and mortality resulting from these events are still relevant. The objective of the present study was to characterize trauma care associated with external causes in the city of Uberlândia-MG between the years 2018 and 2022. This is a descriptive study based on data from the Ministry of Health. Through the information and indicators presented here, it can be noted the predominance of occurrences of falls and transport accidents, involving victims between 20 and 39 years of age, male, white and brown, with average length of stay and mortality rates more important in older age groups. Trauma associated with external causes in Uberlândia, therefore, is still established as an important public health problem that significantly burdens municipal systems for handling this problem.
