Medicinal plants are plant species used for therapeutic purposes, where this therapeutic characteristic of the plant occurs through its active principles. When using fertilizers in the production of these plants, priority should be given to those that will also have a positive effect on the production of these active ingredients, bearing in mind that pesticides are not permitted by law. One of the possible solutions to this issue is green manuring. Therefore, this work aimed to characterize green manure and its relationship with the production of active ingredients from medicinal plants. For this, consultation with technical productions and articles from the Scopus database was used. The works were compared and their results presented in the present work.
