The kidney is an organ that performs several essential functions in the body; however, its function can be compromised by chronic kidney disease, which affects over ten million people in Brazil. When the disease reaches the terminal stage, renal replacement therapies become necessary, such as dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) and kidney transplantation. Kidney transplantation involves the transfer of a kidney from a living or deceased donor to a preselected recipient. Its perioperative mortality is reasonably low, and long-term mortality causes for the recipient are similar to the general population. Kidney transplantation outperforms dialysis by providing the patient with a better quality of life and greater survival. In this regard, the research will collect clinical and epidemiological data from patients who underwent kidney transplantation at a hospital in Cascavel/PR, from 2016 to 2022. Therefore, the research will serve as a reference for healthcare professionals and future transplant patients interested in the procedure.
