Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine, based on scientific analysis, information to assist in the institution of humanized care in the ICU, in which it is much discussed, but little implemented. The practice of humanized care in the ICU is indispensable, because when humanization is associated with care for critical patients and their families, negative feelings about hospitalization are minimized, in addition to contributing to improvements in the patient's clinical condition, and generating a more comfortable and pleasant working environment for healthcare teams. Thus, this study carried out an integrative literature review, in order to elucidate the main points related to the importance of humanization and its theoretical and practical challenges. The results were composed of 9 studies, published between 2005 and 2019. Despite bringing many benefits to the patient, family and professionals, humanization in the ICU still has many challenges to be overcome, so that the positive advances evidenced can be achieved in practice. in the scientific literature.
