Abstract

The article intends to analyze the importance of the empirical research for the improvement of the Maria da Penha Law in Brazil in order to implement it in a more consistent and relevant way in order to contribute to a more efficient and closer legal system of reality. It is intended as a general objective, to analyze the empirical research in Brazil in general regarding the way of realization, its possibilities and limitations, and to relate it to the one of the Maria da Penha Law, to demonstrate its relevance. As a specific objective, to analyze the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law in Brazil and the necessary mechanisms for a reformulation. The method to be used will be a descriptive-analytical study with a qualitative and quantitative approach developed through a theoretical reference of the bibliographic type. It is intended to demonstrate the importance of empirical research in identifying the failures of the Maria da Penha Law in Brazil in the face of an increase in the number of violence against women and thus improve it according to reality.
