THE IMPORTANCE OF APPLYING THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL PATIENT SAFETY GOAL IN THE CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION PROCEDURE

Introduction: Cardiac catheterization as a means of diagnosing cardiovascular diseases, and the implementation of the fourth international goal in this procedure as a means of avoiding adverse events for the patient. Objective: to explain what cardiac catheterization is to nursing professionals and the importance of practicing the fourth international goal in the procedure. Demonstrate the occurrence of adverse events even with the application of the fourth goal, highlighting the importance of this practice. Materials and methods: qualitative bibliographical research, the exclusion criteria were articles in disagreement with the proposed theme. The inclusion criteria were the 08 articles that coincided with the proposed theme. Results: adverse events, vascular complications will be addressed. Conclusion: The adverse events that occurred in cardiac catheterization procedures, even with the application of the surgery verification checklist, lead us to realize the importance of the practice of the fourth international goal in procedures.
