Commedia Dell'Arte is a theatrical-comic genre that was born in Italy around the 16th century by the unrestricted use of masks and improvisations, the characters have masks, dialects and costumes. The female relationship is treated by problems arising from the context of male cross-dressing on stage. This scenario changes after its inception, becoming known for pattern evasion (BARNI; SCALA, 2003). The general objective of this article is to present conceptions about Commedia Dell'arte and female performance. Having a qualitative methodology, descriptive nature and composed by the bibliographic method by the use of written materials and their descriptions (GIL, 2010). It is supported, in theory, by Barni & Scala (2003); Fo (1999); Connors (1998); Freud (1977); D'amico (1954), in thematization of gender, humor, historical issues and descriptors. The question is: what is the importance of Commedia Dell'arte for the female inclusion in the scene? The hypothesis is conceived that patriarchal influences rooted female concealment.
