This article aims to discuss pharmacological approaches for prisoners with multiple psychiatric diagnoses in prison settings. The methodology used was the theoretical essay, which consisted of an analysis and critical synthesis of studies on the complexities of psychiatric diagnoses in detainees, pharmacological approaches and rehabilitation and social reintegration. Incarcerated women often face complex mental health challenges, including the presence of a variety of psychiatric disorders. The focus of the article is to explore how pharmacological therapy can be effectively employed for this vulnerable population. Pharmacotherapy faces particular challenges in treating inmates with multiple psychiatric diagnoses. Drug selection should consider not only symptoms but also possible drug interactions and exacerbated side effects. The personalized approach is essential, taking into account individual needs. Ethical considerations are also highlighted. Ensuring informed consent in a complex prison environment is crucial, as is monitoring the risk of medication abuse. The approach must be holistic, integrating psychosocial therapies, individualized counseling and rehabilitation programs to achieve positive long-term results.
