Ageing is a natural process and with it comes a decline in the ability to remain independent, illnesses and physical fatigue. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a dementia that mainly affects the elderly, affecting around 10% of people aged 65 and 40% of those over 80. The aim of this work was to carry out a bibliographical survey aimed at understanding how the disease works; its pathophysiology; highlighting the importance of rehabilitation, emphasizing the importance of nursing care in the lives of patients and their families, training patients and their families in how they can deal with the consequences that Alzheimer's brings. The conclusion is that the nurse's assistance in the life of the patient is of great importance and can be one of the best ways of identifying the needs of the patient and the family, thus guaranteeing physical safety, and reducing agitation and anxiety by stimulating communication.
