Objective: to identify in the scientific literature the characteristics and involvements in the clinical and family context of elderly patients approached by stroke trauma. Method: integrative review, whose eligibility criteria for the articles were: match the descriptors “stroke”; “Family life” and “sequelae”, to be a research article; be in Portuguese and English; be electronically available in the VHL databases (Virtual Health Library) and the Scientific Electronic Library onLine (SciELO) data sources and year of publication referring to the period from 2013 to 2023. Results: 08 publications were found. The analysis took place through analytical and interpretive readings. The acuity of the broad family life and the daily confrontation of the impacts of the stroke were countless. Final considerations: It is suggested to carry out studies that can monitor this type of population affected by stroke, from hospitalization to discharge from rehabilitation.
