Measles is a serious infectious disease caused by a virus with mandatory immediate notification, which must be carried out within 24 hours after detection of suspicion. This paper aims to show the importance of measles prevention and highlight the events that caused measles to return to Brazil. A literature review was carried out to carry out this study. Studies show that the recurrence of measles in Brazil is multicausal. However, all the analyzed texts pointed to the great low of adherence to vaccination as the main factor. It is extremely important to reinforce the importance of vaccination and active search, open fast and clear communication channels that show the need for this prevention and the severity of the disease.
