This article identified the relationship between climacteric expression and psychosocial factors. It presented means that can improve coping with this phase of women's lives. It carried out field research with a quantitative approach with elderly women. It investigated the most prevalent symptoms during menopause/menopause and analyzed the association of these symptoms with perceptions of symptoms and quality of life through inferential statistics. In the field study, the sample profile was characterized by women aged 55 to 64 years, white, Catholic, married with children, with higher education level, retired, menopause for more than five years (73.0%). Climacteric and menopause symptoms impact a woman's quality of life. The lack of preparation to face this stage of life can intensify the adverse effects that interfere with the female psychosocial context, expressed in the development of mental pathologies, dysfunction in the family and social system, and sexual satisfaction.
