Abstract

Gestational diabetes and the correlation with mothers in social vulnerability are topics of great importance in the field of maternal and child health. Mothers in socially vulnerable situations face additional obstacles during pregnancy, increasing their risk of developing gestational diabetes. Factors such as limited access to health care, unfavorable lifestyle, chronic stress, and lack of social support contribute to this correlation. Thus, this article aims to discuss the correlation between gestational diabetes and mothers in social vulnerability, exploring the social factors that influence its development, the consequences for maternal and fetal health, and the importance of appropriate interventions in this context.  Thus, to achieve these objectives, the methodology will be carried out through a literature review, based on the references provided, and studies published between 2009 and 2023 will be considered, with an exploratory and qualitative nature.a. To address this issue, it is  essential to adopt an integrated approach. Interventions tailored to the social context, such as health education programs and equitable access to health care, are essential. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen social support and address the structural inequalities that contribute to social vulnerability. Collaboration between health professionals, social workers, communities, and policy makers is essential to create a comprehensive supportive environment. Public policies that reduce poverty, improve education, and promote equal opportunities are key in this process. Therefore, only through collective efforts and integrated approaches can we achieve meaningful results and ensure that all women have equal access to quality health care and adequate support during pregnancy.
